Granny's Christmas Dip

"The early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese."

This is my closest approximation of a recipe my granny never wrote down.  It is tradition to have it at all the family Christmas get-togethers, and some years it turns out better than others.  At one time I had it perfect, and after I wrote down the recipe it disappeared.  Each year I fiddle with it a bit, tweak it where I can, and hope and pray that it will be eaten.  The years that it is close to Granny's, it doesn't make it past my uncles and dad.  This year it wasn't great because I was out of Tabasco...there is just no substitution that will give you as good a result as Tabasco sauce.  If I ever find my recipe or hit upon the exact proportions of ingredients, I will definitely update this with any and all corrections.

Granny's Christmas Dip

2 8oz blocks cream cheese, room temperature (not low fat)
1 cup French dressing (not creamy, not low fat)
1/2 tsp each garlic and onion powder (NOT SALT!)
5oz bottle Tabasco (do not substitute Red Hot or any other brand)
2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1/4 - 1/2 cup mayonnaise

1. Blend everything together in a large bowl.  Yes, you need the entire bottle of Tabasco!  Spoon into serving bowl and chill until ready to serve.  Serve with Ritz or Club crackers.
